Mechanical CAD v/s Civil CAD
Computer-Aided Design or
CAD is a general term which is used to describe the application of tools and
software to produce technical 2D and 3D drawings. In general, Computer-Aided
Design is used to convert geometric patterns into various designs.
AutoCAD is an exclusive
software application for Civil CAD which is used to create various designs. It
was created by Autodesk in 1982. AutoCAD is a program applied in all aspects of
design for manufacturing, infrastructure and construction, along with
entertainment and tools to create 3D visuals and effects.
Difference between
Mechanical CAD and Civil CAD
Basically, it is
believed that there is no important difference between mechanical and civil CAD
programs. The variation is when it is practised for both of various fields.
Civil CAD is used by a civil engineer to create structures like foundation,
beams etc. On the other side, Mechanical CAD may be used by a mechanical
designer to produce any mechanical part.
Mechanical CAD is
accelerated to all the functionality of AutoCAD, along with libraries of tools
and parts based on models. With 3D and 2D CAD application, you can create each
and every aspect. You can simply share designs across cloud, desktop, and
mobile.
Uses
As the name suggests,
Mechanical CAD is used to create, document and modify mechanical designs in the
production industry.
On the other side, CivilCAD is used in 2D drawings, drafting and documentation, and 3D visualization
and modelling.
Use of Mechanical CAD?
- For drafting and design in the
manufacturing industry
- Providing a library of
comprehensive standard parts to promote design
- For automating various tasks in
mechanical engineering, such as creating documentation and dimensioning of
materials, and generating components of the machine.
Use of Civil CAD?
- To edit and create 2D geometry
and 3D models with surfaces, solids, and mesh objects.
- Customize tool and ribbon
palettes
- Annotate drawings with
dimensions, text, tables, and leaders
- Customize with APIs and add-on
apps
- Import and attach data from PDF
- Extract object information to
tables
- Keep track on and apply CAD
standards
- Use and share data from Bing
Maps, DGN files, and Navisworks
Conclusion
Solid CAD is the leading
CAD Training Institute in kottayam which provides various programs. SOLID CAD
is technically supported by Design Engineers working in various industries
across the world. We provide training in various CAD packages in Mechanical,
Civil and Electrical streams. In addition to the software training, we also
provide training in a number of other design competencies like GD&T,
Product costing/Estimation, Panel Board Design/estimation, Electrical
Inspectorate Rules, Total station survey, Vasthu detailing; we also provide placement
assistance to our students.
